Developer's Notes

MAD was my first large project. I worked very closely with an artist friend of mine over the course of about 3 months. This project taught me that balancing game features and tweaking play can be a very serious time concern. This game seemed to be 99% done for at least half of its development. Perhaps I have my completeness formula wrong.

I particularly like the smoke trails in this game. They are rendered to a bitmap each frame, and faded all as one. This allows a very large amount to be present without lagging the game.

Yes the explosions are hand animated (thanks Brian)
